唐宋文人士大夫印
唐宋文化艺术兴旺发达，上层社会盛行雅好书画之风。这一时期,文人、书画艺术家辈出,书法、绘画等艺术珍品繁多。印章作为一种独特的艺术样式，与之密切相关,自然要进入他们的行列。因此出现了鉴藏、室名、别号印等“收藏鉴赏”印并不突兀。</P><P> 唐宋官印相对于秦汉官印而言,已成日薄西山之势。因为官印形制单一呆板,不完全属于艺术,它所体现出来的艺术欣赏性质,只是一种不自觉的行为,而非主观上的追求。官印以外的名印、字号印、闲章,形式多样,尤其是字号印、闲章,则为宋代文人艺术家所独创,已具有相当高的艺术成就。这些文人士大夫用印,一般仍由印工制作,但不拘泥于官印的宽边朱文,而是朱白文并举,多种风格兼容,在文字的使用上表现出很大的灵活性,容纳了大篆、小篆、摹印篆等多种字体，和官印以九叠篆为唯一标准相比,丰富多了。其中体现出这类人群的审美取向。虽然流传不多,但它对篆刻艺术的贡献应该说大得多。另一方面它们沿袭古人风尚,反映出对金石学与印章的关系以及对印章自身的艺术美的追求,无疑与战国、秦汉玺印一脉相承。从艺术这一角度看,它们才是宋代印章的主流。</P>

<P> 从审美的角度来审视，这种结论显然是欠妥的。唐印特别是细如丝发的蟠条印，它通过焊接印文造成了一种亦巧亦拙的趣味。尽管，由于印面增大，为了布满印面，唐官印也偶用折叠之法，但总的来说，还是十分精采的。</P> 官印代表的是权力，威严，故而，印面充实平正是其基本要求，要充盈印面最简单有效的办法就是把文字笔画弯曲折叠起来。所以，“九叠篆”应运而生。它体现了一种神秘感，是一种王权意识的积淀，一种为当时的文人士大夫及艺术家们所接受所弘扬的美。您看看有宋一代，为御玺篆过文的大臣或书家有王曾.陈尧佐.晏殊.欧阳修.章淳等十数位，而大书法家米芾的私章中也不乏“九叠篆”者，这正说明了“九叠篆”入印是有其艺术因素存在的。 欣赏了.
