汪关

   汪关 生卒年不详，初名东阳,字杲叔,又字尹子。安徽歙县人,久居娄东,于万历甲寅(1610年）在苏州得一“汪关”铜印,遂改名关,更字尹,并以“宝印斋”名其室。</P>

<P>    考汪关的艺术活动年代,大约与朱简的艺术活动处同一时期,然二人印风却截然不同,朱简以险峭写意见长,汪关则多妍雅精严,二人于当时印坛,各领风骚,在篆刻史上留下了光彩的←页。</P>
<P>    汪关对汉印独有所钟,功夫也下得最深,他以冲刀法直追秦汉铸印,开创了一种不同于何震的工整典雅的新格局。其篆法严谨,刀法坚实挺拔,章法工稳停匀而富有变化。他的印章主要是取法工稳精美一路的汉铜印和玉印,而又行以冲刀,所以刀法稳重而灵动,加之其章法上分间布白,严整茂密,十分精到,因此形成了典雅秀逸的风格,人称“娄东派”。周亮工把文彭以后的篆刻家分为“猛利”和“和平”两派,推何震为“猛利”派的代表人物,推汪关为“和平”派的代表人物,可见其当时的名望。倘以精、工方面的造诣论之,明代可说无人与之匹敌。汪关的印作一方面品味高雅,艺术内蕴深厚,另一万面构造工巧精致可爱。因此,不仅为书画家所重,而且那为一般人所喜爱。明末许多文人士大夫如董其昌、王时敏、文震孟、恽本初、归昌世、李流芳、钱谦益、赵文佩等人的用印,大都出自汪关之手。</P>
<P>    汪关的印完全可用“工笔”来形容之,当然有时候过于精工往往产生雕琢之气；而汪关的高超之处,恰恰能在精严之下,汰去雕饰之气,给人以自然、恬静、茂丰的艺术感染力。明末清初的归昌世、甘旸、沈世和、林皋等都受其影响,卓然为一大家。</P>
