元景造像记

     锦州万佛堂石窟位于辽宁锦州义县西北9公里万佛堂村南大凌河北岸的悬崖上。石窟遗留的碑刻、题记和塔铭，是研究辽宁地方历史的宝贵资料。其中最有价值的碑刻当属《元景造像记》，全称《平东将军营州刺史元景造像碑》,此碑建于北魏太和二十三年（499），系营州（今朝阳）刺史元景为孝文皇帝及自身并眷属，禳灾祈福而建。 </P>
<P>    碑记就窟壁作成，现存304字，个个遒劲挺秀，笔力极工，书法艺术精湛。清末著名学者梁启超得友人相赠之初拓本，极为喜爱，评其为“天骨开外，光芒闪溢”，康有为亦称之为“元魏诸碑之极品”。</P>
