<P> 画为青绿设色，崇山峻邻间一队骑旅自右侧山间穿出，向远山桡道行进，前方一骑者着红衣乘三花黑马正待过桥，应为唐明皇（玄宗），恰是：“嘉陵山川，帝乘赤缥起三骏，于诸王及嫔御十数骑，出飞仙岭下，初见平陆，马皆若驾，而帝马见小桥，作徘徊不进状。”嫔妃则着胡装戴帷帽，展示着当时的习俗。中部侍，驭者数人解马放驼略作歇息。山势突兀，白云萦绕，山石有勾勒无皴法，设色全用青绿。该画传本较多，此图虽可能为宋代传摹本，但比较接近李思训父子画派的风格。
李昭道，字建，盛唐人，李思训之子，亦工着色山水，于其父同享盛名；官至太子中舍，画史亦称小李将军。他能“变父之势，妙又过之”，为历代所称颂，《唐朝名画绿》则称他画的山水鸟兽“甚多繁巧，智慧笔力不及思训”。他生活于唐玄宗时代，有可能画安史之乱时明皇避难入蜀的题材，《明皇幸蜀图》体现了二李画派的典型风格，时代特徵明显，是反映唐代山水画面貌的重要传世作品。

另文：图中所描绘唐玄宗李隆基为避安史之乱，行于蜀中的情景。画面安排了峻险的山岭，盘曲的石径，危架的栈道，云绕的天际，巧妙地画出这队庞大队伍。作者匠心独运，将一群负带行李十分劳累的侍从和马匹，位置画面的中心部位，而把唐玄宗的“马惊不进”和妃嫔、侍臣等贵人，压缩在画幅的右角。人物描绘得栩栩如生。构图雄奇，丘壑峭削，人物生动，意趣微妙。画中山石以线勾勒，用石青、石绿等色渲染，色彩明丽，无皴擦，画法古朴。虽为宋摹本，但在一定程度上体现了唐代绘画的风貌。
李昭道，生卒年不详，唐代画家。字希俊，李思训之子。官至太子中舍。世称“小李将军”。擅长青绿山水，兼善鸟兽、楼台、人物，并创海景。画风巧赡精致，虽“豆人寸马”，也能须眉毕现。尝作《秦王独猎图》，描写秦王骑逐野猪， 引弓待发云势跃然纸上。
