<P> 沈周（公元1427—1509年），字启南，号石田，又号白石翁，长洲（今江苏吴县）人，不应科举，博览群书。书学黄庭书。书学黄庭坚，诗学白居易、苏轼、陆游。山水初承家法，兼师杜琼、赵同鲁，后取法董源、巨然、李成，中年以黄公望为宗，晚年醉心吴镇，於广收博取中自拓新意。四十岁前多画小幅，后拓为大幅，用中锋秃颖，笔力挺健而蕴藉，风格沉着浑厚，画以意境趣味为重。花卉鸟兽重写生，淡墨浅色，情满意足。亦画人物。 吴门派宗师，与唐寅、文徵明、分英合称“明四家”。著有《客座新闻》、《石田集》等。</P>
<P> 此图是沈周为广贺其师陈宽（醒庵）七十岁生日而精心制作的祝寿图。沈周借助於万石长青的庐山五老峰的崇高博大来表达他对教师的推崇之意。画面上崇山峻岭，层层高叠，五老峰雄踞於从峰之上，清泉飞流直下。山下有一高士笼袖观览美景。溪流湍急，云雾浮动，便画面增加了空间感和流动感。此图为沈周仿五蒙画法的杰作。淡墨勾染，用牛毛皴、披麻皴，用笔乾渴，显示出雄厚的根底。从题款中得知此画为沈周四十一岁时所作。</P>

<P> 沈周，字（启）南，号石田，晚号白石翁，亦作玉田翁，人称白石先生，他生于1427年，卒于1509年，苏州人。沈家世代隐居吴门，居苏州相城。沈周的曾祖父是王蒙的好友，父亲恒吉，又是杜琼的学生，书画乃家学渊源。父亲、伯父都以诗文书画闻名乡里，沈周一生家居读书，吟诗作画，优游林泉，追求精神上的自由，蔑视恶浊的政治现实，一生未应科举，始终从事书画创作。他学识渊博，富于收藏。交游甚广，极受众望，平时平和近人，要书求画者“屦满户外”，“贩夫牧竖”向他求画，从不拒绝。甚至有人作他的赝品，求为题款，他也欣然应允。有曹太守其人，新屋落成欲图其楹庑，搜罗画家，沈周亦在其中，隶往摄之，沈周曰：“毋惊老母，旦夕往画不敢后”客人颇不平曰：“太守不知先生，何贱先生于此？渴贵游可勿往。”沈周答曰：“往役义也，岂有贱哉？谒而求免，乃贱耳。”沈周的书画流传很广，真伪混杂，较难分 辨。文征明因此称他为飘然世外的“神仙中人”。</P>
<P> 沈周在元明以来文人画领域有承前启后的作用。他书法师黄庭坚，绘画造诣尤深，兼工山水、花鸟，也能画人物，以山水和花鸟成就突出。所作山水画，有的是描写高山大川，表现传统山水画的三远之景。而大多数作品则是描写南方山水及园林景物，表现了当时文人生活的幽闲意趣。</P>
<P> 在绘画方法上，沈周早年承受家学，兼师杜琼。后来博取众长，出入于宋元各家，主要继承董源、巨然以及元四家黄公望、王蒙，吴镇的水墨浅绛体系。又参以南宋李、刘、马、夏劲健的笔墨，融会贯通，刚柔并用，形成粗笔水墨的新风格，自成一家。沈周早年多作小幅，40岁以后始拓大幅，中年画法严谨细秀，用笔沉着劲练，以骨力胜，晚岁笔墨粗简豪放，气势雄强。</P>
<P> 沈周的绘画，技艺全面，功力浑朴，在师法宋元的基础上有自己的创造，发展了文人水墨写意山水、花鸟画的表现技法，成为吴门画派的领袖。 </P>

<P align=left> 沈周（1427－1509）字启南，号石田，自称石田翁。长洲（今江苏苏州）人。山水少承家法，四十岁前师王蒙，中年後以黄公望为宗，晚乃醉心吴镇，期间又兼参南宋夏圭笔意，然皆能出入变化。用笔劲捷有力，布墨含蓄蕴藉，融揉参杂，而具自家风貌。其画以水墨山水为主，另其写意花卉鸟兽亦甚佳，其影响後人既深又远，无愧称明四大画家之首。
此幅画於成化丁亥（1467），为先生41岁作，画祝乃师陈宽（号醒庵）70岁寿庆，故精力专注，特为杰出。画中山石林木笔法全仿王蒙，益以本身功力，更觉浑 雄健。，几无空处，山石皆用披麻皴法，先以淡墨层层皴染，再施以浓墨逐层醒破。笔法稳健细谨，不恣意逞任，用墨浓淡相间，於满幅布局中有疏朗之感，故觉实中有虚。而画悬泉百丈直泻冲下，涧水轻柔，云光山色极为精采。 </P>

一、《中国画鉴赏》：
沈周(1427一一1509)，字启南，号石田，又号白石翁，长洲(今江苏苏州)人。居相城，读书不仕。所作山水花卉。人物融合宋元各派，自成一家，悉入神品。少时率盈尺小景，画法精细严谨；中年始拓为大幅，每草草点缀，虽粗简然意已足。其画以水墨写生为艺林绝品，浅绛者次之。沈氏虽以画擅名，诗文亦卓然成家，每成一轴，手题数十百言，风流文采，照耀一时。
二、《中国大百科全书》（简明版）：
沈周 (1427—1509) 中国明代画家。字启南，号石田、白石翁，长洲(今江苏苏州)人。一生未仕，为人宽厚，工诗文、书法、绘画，享誉极高。出身书香门第，曾祖与王蒙友善，父、伯皆为文人画家，他自幼学画，擅山水、花鸟、人物，以山水最有名。山水早年得杜琼、刘珏亲授，主要师法王蒙，所作多盈尺小幅，笔法细密。中年后转师黄公望及宋代诸家，作品也始拓为大幅，用笔劲健，颇具骨力。晚年又醉心吴镇，笔墨粗简，苍劲浑厚，秀润雄逸，意境清幽淡远，同时讲求诗书画的有机结合，丰富和发展了文人画的笔情墨趣。作品多画江南山水，注重师法造化。其花鸟，形象写实，笔墨简括厚润，画风质朴。沈周的绘画在明清时影响很大，创绘画中的吴门派，并被后世列为明四家之一。有《庐山高图》、《仿董巨山水》、《东庄图》册、《沧洲趣图》等传世。著《客座新闻》(已佚)、《石田集》等。

简介
幅内无款，仅于右下土坡钤「启南」印一。画山树皆取细笔中锋，与晚年之作相比，本幅笔法显得疏秀清朗。皴山石用短披麻居多，山顶参以矾头杂于其间，取法与四十一岁作「庐山图」气息相通，并皆出自王蒙，细致绵密的作风尤与被誉为「天下第一王叔明」的「青卞隐居图」最为接近。
本幅据沈周于诗塘自题云（沈题于辛酉，1501，75岁），知原为马抑之作此图，旋归刘珏（1410～1472）。成化六年（1470）春仲其弟刘□春试入京，珏因其弟「角艺南宫，以期其远大。」而题此幅为赠以壮其行，壬辰（1472）春刘珏逝去，仲秋刘□持此图求吴宽、文林题，时三人同在京邸。从三人之题可知沈周此幅当成于
1470年前后，与从画风比对和1467年画「庐山高」正可相诠证。另款署「立斋」者，从其所钤之「凤仪」、「赐己丑进士」二印查勘，得一名于成化五年己丑（1469）登科者丁镛（1435年生），字凤仪，应天府上元县人。
本幅图中有茅屋数椽，竹丛山色，所绘颇似沈周之别业「有竹居」。成化辛卯（1471）沈周有竹居既结，其时文士好友若吴宽、刘珏等多人皆过往并贻之诗，李东阳云：「幽人住在竹深处，种有青山濯有川。」黎扩云：「新居僻地城东地，高竹千竿水一川。」优雅辞句描述与画中幽深景致实有若干契合之处。而沈周坐卧有竹居中多年，亦有写景作品传世及为诗文歌咏。
