<P>唐太宗得王羲之《兰亭序》真迹，命欧阳询临摹，刻石于学士院，拓赐近臣。五代梁移石汴都。辽耶律德光破晋后携此石北去，德光中途病死，石弃于杀虎林。宋庆历年间（1041-1048年）碑被发现，置于定州。唐时定州置义武军，宋避太宗赵光义讳，改义武为定武，故此石刻被称为《定武本兰亭》。《定武本兰亭》又有5字损本与不损本之别。宋代以来《兰亭序》刻本众多，论者多以欧摹定武本为正宗。 后世所传《兰亭序》皆为唐以后辗转勾摹，笔墨气韵渐去原迹，但在一定程度上还能反映出王羲之书法的风格面貌，不失为学习书法的范本之一。自宋代以来，《定武本兰亭》特别受到推重。元赵孟頫曾在定武本后题跋，认为：“古今言书者以右军为最善，评右军之书者以禊帖为最善，真迹既亡，其刻石者以定武为最善。”
<P>故宫所藏宋拓本《定武本兰亭》拓工良好，有潘思牧等题跋4段，王守观款1段，并有“鲁斋珍藏”、“潘思牧”、“莲巢”等印35方。 </P>
<P>清孙承泽《庚子销夏记》、朱彝尊《金石文字跋尾》和李光暎的《观妙斋藏金石考略》等书有著录。</P>

虽然不是定武原石,从风格上也基本可以断定是宋拓,是非常好的宋拓本
