<p> 本幅无名款，作者实为武元直。武元直字善夫，号广莫道人，约活动於十二世纪下半期。
苏轼的〈赤壁赋〉，宋神宗五年（1082）完成後传诵千古，画家据之以成画题。画中东坡头戴高装巾子，与二客一船夫，泛舟荡漾於江水之上，「纵一苇之所如，凌万顷之茫然。」；赤壁则是「断岸千尺」；水则「江流有声」；画中强调风动松折，对山石之描绘，为典型之斧劈皴法，笔意健劲，恰似持利斧斫出山壁凹凸，对山石更是曲尽质感坚硬。扁舟虽小仅寸馀，但以小点连缀成形，点之跳动，如音符叮当有声；水流旋涡，回澜起伏，轮转旋律有韵，去而又还，笔调充满着音乐性。两岸之间，大江东去，气象万古雄伟，烟波浩渺。
