赵云壑绘画
赵云壑 初名龙，改名起，字子云，别署云壑、壑山樵子、泉梅村人、秃尊者。江苏苏州人。幼承母教，喜好丹青。弱冠後拜师任立凡，30岁时经顾茶村引荐成为吴昌硕门弟子，遂更名起。数年後偕缶庐翁定居沪上鬻画，加入海上题襟馆金石书画会、上海书画研究会，艺事精进，画名日隆。东瀛人士尤好其书画，目为“缶庐第二”。缶翁晚年亦有嘱其代笔者。60岁归居苏州老宅，组织云社，邀集同道研求艺事，犹创作不辍。擅山水、人物、花鸟、走兽，早年画风近任立凡。转师吴昌硕後，尽弃前学，盖因性情、审美与缶师极为投契，下笔辄以篆隶大草笔意出之，饶金石苍茫之趣。又好写生，重视个性之抒发，花卉在浑厚苍劲之外，亦自具俊逸秀润之质。山水取法元人黄公望、曹知白、吴仲圭，清人石溪、石涛，于墨法最为精诣;中年後山水即有云西之疏秀简淡、梅道人之湿润雄秀、黄公望之气质神骨，又有石溪之渴墨、石涛之精妙新奇；而花卉用色亦参以墨法，独具古艳明快之致，成为特色。 </P><B>赵云壑小传 </B></P>
<P>赵云壑（1874-1955）江苏苏州人。初名龙，后改名起，字子云，号云壑，晚号壑公、云翁、老壑、壑叟、秃尊者、泉梅老人。擅长写意花卉、初时拜任立凡为师，后从吴昌硕，深得缶庐古意。 吴昌硕画派，传缶庐之衣钵者，首推吴中赵云壑。而目前在一些大小拍卖会中以赵云壑的作品假冒吴昌硕的画作，不在少见。两人风格相象，气韵相合，由此也可看出赵氏对于吴昌硕一派体研尤深。 </P>
<P>赵云壑少年时家境贫寒，父亲赵玉峰经营渔业。赵却从小笃嗜绘画，常去裱画店观摩画件。赵氏在拜吴昌硕为师之前，尚有几位启蒙老师。最早为苏州施药局的蒋先农，蒋师精擅花鸟。后又从李农如、许子振。许子振与吴中文人多有交往，如吴大澂、陆恢、倪田、顾鹤逸等。赵云壑与许师从游，每多获益。其时任预客寓吴中，任海上四任"之一，画风承秉陈洪绶，极富名声。赵携画作请任预指点，并列入门下。因此这段经历使赵云壑的早年风格颇似任预，而此时署名多为赵龙。 </P>
<P>赵云壑在苏州时得识吴昌硕的谱兄顾茶村，顾的引荐成为吴昌硕门下弟子。时年吴氏花甲，而赵则三十岁。自此赵云壑改名起，自号：铁汉。自治印"苦铁门第铁汉"。 </P>
<P>而后赵云壑画风直随缶庐，甚得师形。赵氏在画艺上的进展一方面与其原来在书法、篆刻、绘画的扎实基础有关，另一方面师生两人在性情上的相契，尤为关键。 吴昌硕能够鬻艺海上，赵云壑应该是功不可没。久居苏州的吴氏欲往上海发展，而替吴打前锋的正是赵云壑。赵携吴氏信件求访上海的王一亭，深蒙王一亭的厚爱。赵四处拜访同道，并打通各笺扇庄、裱画店的关系。使得当时的朵云轩、九华堂、锦云堂、锦润堂、天宝堂等画店代为收件。 </P>
<P>约半年后，赵云壑回苏州向吴昌硕汇报在沪情况。1911年吴昌硕也离开苏州在海上定居，成了以后的"海上画派"领袖。由此可见吴氏对于赵云壑的器重，两人心印之相契。 </P>
<P>吴、赵两人画风相近，很难分辩。我以为吴昌硕浸淫篆籀之法。以大篆的结体和笔势来作画。而赵氏所作的行书、石鼓，风格类似缶师，但其隶书、大草与其师取法不同，因而面目迥异。而且吴氏楷书学的是钟繇，赵氏的楷书源自颜、柳。所以赵云壑为吴昌硕所代笔的画作，其画风不及吴氏爽利。 </P>
<P>赵云壑于吴派花卉之外也旁及山水。其山水早年师法黄公望，中年后对于曹知白、吴镇两家也下过苦功。五十岁后又研习石溪、石涛笔意。因此其在花卉上的用墨用色，也参用石涛的方法。就这一点与缶庐颇有不同。其于1932年自刻"拜石亭"一章，边款署："石涛我私淑之，石溪我宗仰之，米颠拜石我窃效之，愿筑'拜石亭'以终老焉。" </P>
<P>赵云壑在近代画史上的地位还在于他是当时海上著名画会社团"海上题襟馆"的积极参与者，当时会长为吴昌硕而具体会务则由吴氏二子和赵云壑负责。并且其还加入"上海书画研究会"。1933年回苏州后还组织"云社"、参加吴似兰组织的"娑罗画社"。 赵云壑嗜好园艺，与著名园艺家周瘦鹃颇有交情。其1932年归隐苏州后，辟园造景，种琪花美树。园内有梅树十株，所居宅院附近有井十口，于是榜其居所为"十泉十梅之居"。可惜后来毁于战火。 在中国画史上，诸如父子画家、师徒画家，孰优孰劣，是谁发扬一派，很难定论。如唐之李思训、李昭道，宋之米芾、米友仁，明之沈周、文徵明。而海上一派的吴昌硕、赵云壑或许也应当属于此列。 赵云壑的字画随着吴昌硕的作品价格上升而行情看好，尤其颇受日本藏家喜爱。 赵云壑主要著作： 《赵子云山水册》、《赵子云花卉册》、《时人名画集·吴昌硕、赵子云合集》 </P>
