徐 悲 鸿（ 1895 ～ 1953 ）  </P>
<P>  　现代绘画艺术大师，美术教育家,江苏宜兴人。自幼随父徐达章学习诗文书画，1916年入上海复旦大学法文系，半工半读，并自修素描。1917年留学日本学习美术，不久回国，任北京大学画法研究会导师。1919年赴法国留学，1923年入巴黎国立美术学校。学习油画、素描，并游历西欧诸国，观摹、研究美术作品。1927年回国，先后任上海南国艺术学院美术系主任、中央大学艺术系教授、北京大学艺术学院院长。1933年起，先后在法国、比利时、意大利、英国、德国及苏联举办中国美术展览及个人画展 </P>
<P>　抗日战争爆发后，在香港、新加坡及印度举办义卖画展，宣传支援抗日。重返中央大学艺术系任教。中华人民共和国建立后任中华全国美术工作者协会（今中国美术家协会）主席、中央美术学院院长等职。在绘画创作上，徐悲鸿主张现实主义美术，反对形式主义，坚持写实作风，提倡师法造化。"尽精微、致广大"。反对因循守旧，注重兼蓄并收，对中国画主张“古法之佳者守之，垂绝者继之，不佳者改之，末足者增之，西方绘画可采入者融之。”继承我国绘画优秀传统，吸取西画之长，创造自己独特风格。长于国画、油画、尤擅素描。造诣极深，善于传神。其素描多作人物、肖像，造型精练、准确，注重线与面的结合；油画长于人物、风景，作品体现了爱国主义和人道主义思想；中国画则融西方艺术手法于中国传统艺术之中，别具一格。兼工人物、花鸟、走兽、山水，尤善画马，作品表现了中华民族坚韧不拔的进取精神。</P>
<P>　他长期从事美术教育，教学上主张严格的基本功训练和现实主义的创作思想，培养了一大批美术人材。代表作有：油画《田横五百士》、《九方皋》、《漓江春雨》、《晨曲》、《泰戈尔像》、《奔马》等。有多种画集、研究文集出版。著有《徐悲鸿艺术文集》等。1953年9月26日卒于北京。逝世后，北京建有徐悲鸿纪念馆，集中保存展出其作品</P>

备　注   本拍品为曾为徐悲鸿学生、原安徽某师范学院教授旧藏。徐悲鸿画马早在三十年代就已经闻名天下了，此幅画于1936年，观其构图，风柳飞摆，柳下双骏，一仰一偃，仰者嘶鸣长空，偃者嚼草而立，笔墨放纵，老到，率笔而就，为其典型之作。徐悲鸿归国后多以西画法入国画，其画风与前人大有不同，特别是画马。徐悲鸿在印度国际大学和加尔各答举行徐悲鸿画展。泰戈尔盛赞其作品旨趣高奥的形象及有韵律的线条和色彩独具民族风格。 为泰戈尔作油画、素描、速写像十余幅，并创作著名中国画《泰戈尔像》和《群马》。由泰戈尔介绍，为圣雄甘地作速写肖像。完成气势磅礡的中国画巨作《愚公移山》，在民族生死存亡的时刻，以愚公坚韧不拔的精神鼓舞人民。徐悲鸿的画马藏品近几年来不断攀升，由70多万的立马图到300多万的群马图不等。

著录与展览 徐悲鸿于1942年在贵阳举办个人展览之际，画的这幅《秋风立马》是送给“若愚先生”的，若愚是指吴道安，在国民党时期曾任广西壮族自治区副主席、国民参政会参政员贵州委员，其生平见杨德芬着《吴道安事略》载于《镇远文史资料》(第二辑，第74页。) 吴道安与黄宇人、马宗荣等人在贵州为徐悲鸿举办展览之际，徐悲鸿为答谢吴的关照与支持而画的这幅精品赠送给他。是世间难得见到的作品。徐悲鸿的画马作品在去年拍卖中动辄在百万，此件《骏马图》则更具特色，居于上等水平。
